Teri from The Narcissist’s Blog was sweet enough to nominate me for a Versatile Blogger Award. Apparently it’s a way to show your appreciation for your fellow bloggers by giving your readers a chance to go check out some other great writers. The “rules” seem to vary from blogger to blogger, but generally seem to be:
1. Thank the person who nominated you
2. Share 7 random things about you
3. Share the love with 15 of your favorite bloggers
4. Put up the Versatile Blogger Award picture on your blog
So first up, let me give a heartfelt thanks for Teri for extending the nomination to me. When I started up my blog back in May I was really new to the blogging world and wasn’t sure what I should be doing here, so I did my best to jump around and read a lot of other blogs and think about what worked and what didn’t. Teri’s blog is inspiring to me, filled with fun and thought-provoking glimpses into her life as a single woman. It is sexy, honest, sometimes fun, sometimes heart-breaking and I’m always glad to see when a new post goes up. Be sure to check her out!
Okay, so here are 7 random things you may not already know about me:
1. I used to be the lead singer in a local rock band (The Hostages, highly likely you never heard of us LOL).
2. I’ve climbed to the top of a Mayan pyramid (in Chichen Itza).
3. Dispatched police officers to respond to a murder at a psychiatric hospital.
4. Got hugs from Tori Amos. Yes, it was wonderful ![]()
5. Showed my immunization scar as proof of age to buy beer when I’d forgotten my ID.
6. Played air guitar on stage with Jethro Tull during their Rock Island tour.
7. Been touched by a ghost.
Alright, so here are 15 bloggers I’d like to give a shout out to!
First up are blogs by my friends Rachel http://toughbunny.blogspot.com/) and MJ ( http://www.moxymtg.com/). These are two awesome women who are great writers and I always enjoyed reading what they had to say on their blog. One day it occurred to me that maybe I could write a blog worth reading and enjoying too, so I consider these two my official “muses” who got me started in the blogging world.
Next up is Catherine (http://simplysolo.wordpress.com/), who ran across my blog early on, said some really encouraging words and let me do a guest post on her very well-read blog (something she does every Tuesday). I was humbled and grateful when I got a lot of her readers to come over and check out my blog, and a few have stuck around.
Then there’s Mandi, who’s blog (http://www.mandicrocker.blogspot.com/) is a lot of fun, and who also provided some encouraging words and feedback.
Eva (of http://hereffingblog.wordpress.com/) was an early subscriber to my My Ideal Woman, also gave me some encouraging words. I really loved her playful and sexy blog, but she seems to have stopped on September 1, unfortunately.
Nikki’s blog ( http://womenarefrommars.wordpress.com/) is also sexy as hell, bold, brash, sometimes fun, sometimes serious. This woman’s got a very strong voice and I love reading her stuff.
Sandra (http://sexnerdsandra.com/) hosts a podcast that’s great fun, and her blog is a sexy and entertaining complement to the podcast.
http://wordsfallfrommyeyes.wordpress.com/ is a bold, powerful, honest, sexy, tragic, joyful tour de force, a woman providing vignettes into her life that she’s hoping to publish as a book one day.
Teri’s blog (http://narcissistsblog.wordpress.com/) I mentioned above in my “thank you,” excellent stuff!
http://thoughtsappear.wordpress.com/ is a fun, quirky blog that I find thoroughly entertaining.
http://becomingbitter.wordpress.com/ is quite the interesting blog. Her “about” description pretty much forced me to subscribe, I think there’s some sort of dark magic at work there, I just couldn’t help myself.
http://confessionsofasingleblonde.wordpress.com/ – a bold, honest, and sexy look into a single woman’s life. I love it!
Kate (http://subtlekate.wordpress.com/) describes herself as a single mum who lives in Australia, and since I love a woman with an Australian accent I enjoy reading her blog even more! As a single parent myself I like reading her perspective on life and love.
http://singleinmy30s.wordpress.com/ is another great blog about becoming single again later in life, something we have in common.
Nancy (http://chickdickmysteries.wordpress.com/) came over to read me through Teri, and left me a nice comment on one of my posts. Her blog name certainly raised an eyebrow and I couldn’t help but check her out. Her blog is fun, and she’s a published author, something I hope to do as well one day as a fiction writer.
And lastly, thanks to all of you for stopping by, reading, and sometimes leaving comments, I really appreciate it!
